FAQ Force AXS

What’s the difference between the new FORCE AXS and the FORCE eTap AXS and Red AXS?

The shape of the lever bodies has been optimised for the new Force AXS – the lever is now slimmer.
The shape of the shift paddles has been changed for better accessibility.
This also reduces the risk of pinching your fingers when braking or pressing the shifters into the handlebar tape.
The brake/shift levers of the new Force AXS are compatible with additional Wireless Blip shifters, while the RED additionally offers two plug-in ports each for wired MultiClic or Blip shifters.
The brake lever of the Force AXS and the Red eTap AXS is made of carbon, the one of the Force eTap AXS is made of aluminium.
The RED and Force groupsets come with carbon cranks and Direct Mount chainrings. What’s more, the crank arms of the RED have a hollow construction.
Both rear derailleurs of the RED and Force AXS groupset use the Orbit fluid damping and technology.
Which gearings are available for the new FORCE AXS?
There are two different rear derailleurs for the new FORCE AXS groupset.
On our XLITES we use the rear derailleur Force AXS 36T Max.
This gives you a wide range of gearings. It is compatible with 1x and 2x drivetrains with cassettes from 10-28T to 10-36T. The Force AXS cranks come with integrated 2x chainrings in the sizes 50/37, 48/35 or 46/33.
We use the size 48/35.
Do the new Force AXS shift/brake levers offer lever reach adjustment?

Yes, the shift/brake levers of the new FORCE AXS offer lever reach adjustment.
For this purpose, you will find the adjusting bolt for 2.5 millimetre hexagon socket on the front underside of the lever bodies.
By turning them clockwise, you can bring the brake levers and shift paddles closer to the handlebar –
or, by turning them anti-clockwise, further away from the handlebar.
You always adjust the brake levers and shift paddles together.

Which changes have been made to the brake/shift levers of the new Force AXS?

The shape of the Force AXS shift paddles has been changed for better accessibility.
This also reduces the risk of pinching your fingers when braking or pressing the shifters into the handlebar tape.
The brake/shift levers have an optimised and slimmer shape and can be used by a wider variety of hand sizes.
You can adjust the lever reach to suit your needs. The brake/shift levers of the new Force AXS come with carbon brake levers.
In the upper part of the lever body, the Blip ports have been removed.
In addition, the grip area and the general height of the lever bodies have been reduced.

What are the new brake/shift levers compatible with?

The new brake/shift levers of the Force AXS are not compatible with Blips and Clics.
But with the Wireless Blips. You can install up to three pairs of them, i.e. a total of six additional shifters on the bike.
What’s more, the new brake/shift levers are compatible with Eagle AXS rear derailleurs.
Therefore, you can continue to combine all Road and MTB AXS components.

How many hours can I ride with the batteries in the gear shifter?
SRAM specifies a duration of about two years, depending on the number of gear changes.
Are there also upgrades?

Yes, there are upgrades to look forward to.
If you already own an AXS groupset and now want to charge several batteries at once, the new charger could be very useful for you.
It offers you the possibility to charge four AXS batteries at once in the same time as a standard charger.
It becomes a fast charger when you only charge one or two batteries simultaneously. For ultimate integrated power measurement, there is a Powermeter upgrade.
The Force AXS Powermeter Kit adds advanced powermeter technology to the one-piece chainrings
and is fully integrated into the chainring set with a low weight.
With the limited edition cassette in rainbow colours, you can add even more glamour to your bike.
It is available for 10-28 and 10-33 cassettes and is designed for smooth and fast shifting.
