What is Q'AUTO and how does it work?
Q'AUTO is an automatic shifting system that always chooses the right gear for you – without the need for a battery. It automatically adapts to your cadence and shifts gears smoothly and precisely so that you can concentrate fully on riding.
Do I need to charge Q'AUTO?
No, Q'AUTO works completely without a battery. It generates the power required for switching while riding. However, the system has to "warm up" briefly in the first few metres in order to generate sufficient energy. After that, automatic shifting works as usual – without charging, without any effort.
Can I also shift manually if I want to?
Yes. Although Q'AUTO automatically recognises the right gearing, you can correct it manually at any time using the Di2 shift button. The system memorises your corrections in order to adapt to your preferences.
How does Q'AUTO select the right gear?
The high-precision sensor technology in the FREEHUB measures speed, cadence and incline. Based on this data, Q'AUTO shifts gears responsively and predictively – perfectly adapted to real riding conditions. The system also continuously analyses your individual riding behaviour in order to optimally adapt to your personal riding style. This makes shifting even smoother and more precise with every ride.
Is shifting with Q'AUTO smooth?
Yes, the system was developed so that it shifts smoothly and evenly gear by gear. Jerky transitions or chain damage are a thing of the past.
Is Q'AUTO also suitable for sporty riding?
Absolutely. The adaptive shifting technology ensures optimum gearing even with changing intensity – whether comfortable city commutes or sporty off-road adventures.
Can I also deactivate automatic shifting?
Yes, Q'AUTO offers two riding modes: automatic and manual. In automatic mode, the system shifts gears for you – ideal for relaxed, efficient riding in the city. If you prefer to decide for yourself, you can switch to manual mode at any time and control the gears at the touch of a button.
