Do you have questions about bike tyres?
The correct tyre size depends in particular on the spatial limitations of the frame, fork or rim brakes. The diameter of the rims and tyres in particular must match exactly, whereas there is some leeway in the tyre width. Mountain bike tyres are usually specified in English inches (e.g. 29 x 2.25"), whereas road bike tyres are specified in French sizes (e.g. 700 x 23C). It is best to follow the binding European ETRTO standard, in which a small number indicates the tyre width, followed by a larger number for the inner tyre diameter, for example 23-622. The diameter of the old tyre must be the same as the new one; for the tyre width, you can use the ETRTO recommendations in the table below as a guide.
